Dr Gus Papathomas
Gus graduated from Sheffield University in 1989 and initially worked in the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital before working in General Dental Practice and in the University with dental students. Gus joined Donal Tully in practice in Newtown in 1993 and took over the running of the practice in 1998.
In 2009 he designed and relocated the practice to the Williamstown Centre. He is actively involved in Postgraduate Education and is course organiser in the South East for Continuing Dental Education Courses. He is a former examiner with The National Examining Board of Dental Nurses in the UK and he also ran teaching and training programmes for Dental Nurses.
From 2010 to 2012 Gus completed a 2 year part time postgraduate program at the Dublin Dental Hospital and was awarded a Diploma in Clinical Dentistry. This was then followed by a one year program in dental implants. He subsequently returned to part time study at the Dublin Dental Hospital completing his Masters in Clinical Dentistry with modules in Prosthodontics and Paediatric dentistry and completed his thesis in 2018 on the use of dental appliance for the management of snoring and sleep apnoea. In 2019, he was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.
He has a keen interest in Cosmetic Dentistry, crown & bridgework and dental implants as well as the treatment of snoring and sleep apnoea and according to his wife and two children, he does not spend enough time at home! |

Dr Donal Tully
Donal established the original practice in Newtown, Waterford in the early 1970’s after several years in private practice in London. He rapidly gained a reputation as an excellent restorative dentist with a keen interest in Crown & Bridgework and started restoring Dental Implants in the 1980’s.
He is now retired from clinical dentistry but continues to act in an advisory role and in particular with medico-legal advice and assesments.
Since the early 1990’s he has been heavily involved with Chernobyl Aid Ireland.
He makes regular visits to Belarus and is actively involved in fundraising for this charity which has seen Donal develop dental surgeries in 3 centres for orphans and the poverty stricken in Belarus.

Dr Brid Fitzgerald
Brid graduated from UCC with an honours degree. She then worked in the UK for a number of years in both NHS& private practices, before returning to Ireland in 2009 to join our team in Williamstown Dental Centre.
Brid has attended numerous postgraduate dental courses, including a year-long part-time course in Aesthetic Dentistry.
In 2009, she completed her membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgeons with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons in Ireland. She is actively involved at Branch level of the Irish Dental Association

Dr Aisling Wallace
Aisling graduated from University College Cork and subsequently joined Williamstown Dental Centre as an associate general dentist and performs all aspects of general dentistry and is renowned for her gentle and relaxing approach towards dental care.
Outside of dentistry Aisling is a keen Camogie player in her spare time. |

Dr Niamh O'Gorman
Niamh is from West Waterford. She received her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from University College Cork.
She joined the Williamstown Dental Centre in 2019 and also had a spell in practice in London prior to returning to the sunny South East. Niamh enjoys all aspects of dentistry and believes in caring for her patients with a personalised approach while providing them with the best possible dental experience.

Dr Cormac Cullinane - Endodontist
Cormac graduated from UCC in 1995. After having worked in General Dental Practice for 7 years in the UK, he joined Gus Papathomas & Donal Tully in practice in Waterford in 2002.
Having completed a part time programme in endodontics he then embarked on full time post-graduate MSc in Endodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute, London which he passed with distinction. Since his return in 2009 he now deals exclusively with root canal treatments within the practice and accepts referrals from other practices.
Outside of dentistry he is a busy father to his 2 sons amd 1 daughter. |

Dr Joe Alcock – Orthodontist
Joe graduated from Trinity in 1999 with a first class honours degree and then worked in hospitals in the UK whilst gaining further qualifications. In 2003 he was awarded MFD RCSI and in 2008 he gained his DDS and MOrth RCS (Edinburgh) after completing a further 3 year programme in Orthodontics at Bristol University.
He returned to hIs native Waterford in 2009 and joined Williamstown Dental Centre where he provides a comprehensive orthodontic service.

Dr Johnny Fearon – Prosthodontist
Johnny graduated from in Manchester in 1993. After several years in practice he then completed a 2 year full time Masters Degree in Restorative Dentistry in Leeds. He gained MFDS (RCS) from RCS Edinburgh 2000. and then completed a 3-year full time residency Masters Programme in Prosthetics at Trinity College Dublin in 2004 with 1st Class Honours.
He has since completed an 18-month part-time programme in Conscious Sedation in 2009. Johnny has published in several scientific journals and lectures both nationally and internationally on all aspects of restorative and implant dentistry. In his spare time Johnny is a keen golfer as well as being heavily involved in regular trips to Belarus to look after children and adults in orphanages and institutions.

Stacey Lyons – Dental Hygienist
Stacey previously worked as a Dental Surgery Assistant before going on to graduate from UCC School of Dental Hygiene in 2017 with honours.
She is passionate about her work and is highly motivated which is reflected in the results she achieves with her patients. Stacey regularly attends continuing dental education courses and is fully qualified in providing local anaesthetics, fissure sealants, oral hygiene & prevention advice along with a radiography qualification allowing her to take x-rays. Stacey works with us two days per week. In her spare time Stacey enjoys running, swimming and spending time with friends and family

Elma graduated from Guys Dental Hospital, London in the early 1990’s and then worked as Staff Dental Hygienist in the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield. Like all of our team, Elma has attended numerous courses and is qualified in administering local anaesthetic. Elma has worked in our dental practice since 1993 since returning to Ireland whilst also raising her 2 children. |
